| SCHOOL COUNCIL |
 |
The School Council is made up of student representatives
voted in from each tutor group and advocates for those
groups who are unable to represent themselves. The School
Council take issues and suggestions from their groups
to the Council for discussion, and then make requests
and recommendations to the Chair, Mick Ellison who takes
their views to the Senior Management team.
The School Council is the student's most direct route
in having a say, an influence and a personal investment
in the school. It has proved to be a very positive experience
for the pupils and the staff with everyone taking a
keen interest in how it develops.

School Council News Term 3
In terms 1 and 2 student council reps talked to their classes about improving lunchtime and break times
Playground
Mr Cainey has been asked to provide some playground equipment and will also be organising some training for new sports leaders. The skipping group will be allowed to use the area outside the library.
Staff on duty in the 5 a side pitch will be asked to provide opportunities for basketball.
Bikes can not be used at lunchtimes but Mr Cainey will be looking to bring in some people to run some bike training.
Staff on duty in the big playground have been asked to make sure older students do not monopolise the playground equipment and that younger students have their fair share of use.
Lunchtime clubs
These are now up and running, there is an Art Club on Monday, Singing Club and Grid club on Wednesday and on Thursday Chess Club and a Library club. Those attending lunchtime clubs can go straight up to lunch so that clubs start promptly. Any students with ideas for clubs should talk to their School Council reps and school council. Any staff wishing to run a lunchtime club please see Mick Ellison. Sarah will display club posters on the student notice board.
ASD playground
The concerns about a lack of equipment were passed to SMT. It appears that equipment has been ordered and should soon be made available.
Wet breaks /playtimes.
These have improved a lot since September and rooms in the new building are now working well. Some wet weather activity boxes have been supplied by School Council to the secondary classes already. Mr Gregory has also promised school council a budget of £500 to spend from April.
In the meantime School Council will be allocating the £320 given to them by Aiming High for students to spend on wet weather activity boxes. £60 has been allocated to Tom’s class. Paula, Natalie, James and Gill’s classes will receive £50 each. Tutors have been asked to ensure students are involved in deciding how the money is spent.
The remaining £60 will be spent on resources for the secondary department.
Dining room
Older Students have asked if they can eat their packed lunches outdoors in the summer, this will be decided nearer the time.
Can students have brown / tomato sauce?
Unfortunately I’ve talked to Di - she tells me it’s not possible due to healthy eating rules.
Non Uniform Days.
The non uniform day School Council had asked for on 20th November raised £252. This was donated to Children In Need and the Friends of Bwindi.
The next non uniform day is on Friday 5th February funds raised will go to UNICEF.
Any students or staff who are involved in fund raising please use the school notice boards to let know students know what you are up to. Thank you!
